Mary Doering:  Artist Statement

I do not think of myself as a photographer, printmaker or a painter. Without being identified by a single medium, I feel free to draw from different disciplines of art. Using a computer as both a collaborator and as a tool, I layer original photographs, textures, personal calligraphic marks, and monoprints to construct a union of various elements. My work is an intuitive dance allowing mystery and unpredictability to be part of the process.
