Artist Statement

 Improvisations, is a photo based series of art prints that focuses on abstract geometric design, texture and color.  As I alter and edit each image the original sometimes becomes unrecognizable.  For example, Improvisation #14 is a black and white print containing: photographs of texture from a paint palette, personal calligraphic marks, scanned paintings and monoprints.  Elements are layered over one another, and then various blending modes are used paying careful attention to color, form and composition.   This resulting combined-media image cannot be made by any other means.
